Bio
Dr. Eduardo Beltrán Flores is a Chemical Engineer (Universidad de La Laguna, 2015) with a master in Industrial Engineering (Universidad de La Laguna, 2017). He received the PhD in Environmental Sciences and Technologies on the application of white-rot fungi to degrade pesticides (Autonomous University of Barcelona, 2022). During his PhD, he was a visiting pre-doctoral researcher at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto under the supervision of Dr. Adrián M. T. Silva. He has addressed the removal of water pollution through different treatment technologies such as nanotechnology, membrane filtration, ozonation and bioremediation. His current research focuses on the scale-up and application of fungal treatment systems for the removal of pesticides from agricultural wastewater. He has also been professor of the subject ” Experimentació en Enginyeria Química III” of the Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2019-2023).
Current research interests
- Scale up of fungal bioremediation processes and application to real cases
- Combination of fungal technology with other treatment systems
- Economic and life-cycle studies
